How to Real-Time Sync Your Shopify Products and Customers with YourGPT

Automatically keep your AI agent's product and customer knowledge in sync with your Shopify store

Once set up, your AI agent stays up to date with your store on its own — whenever a product goes live, its price changes, it sells out, or a new customer signs up, YourGPT picks it up right away, with no manual re-syncing needed. You'll find this under your Shopify integration's Webhooks & Synchronization step, with separate tabs for Products and Customers so you can set each one up on its own

Set Up Real-Time Sync

1. In your Shopify integration, open the Products or Customers tab, expand Real-time Sync, and copy the webhook URL shown there. Each tab has its own separate URL.

2. In Shopify Admin, go to Settings → Notifications → Webhooks

3. Click Create webhook

4. Set the Event to match what you're syncing — Product creation, Product update for the Products tab, or Customer creation, Customer update for the Customers tab — set Format to JSON, and paste in the webhook URL from Step 1

5. Click Save

Repeat this for each event you want to track — most stores add both "creation" and "update" webhooks for Products, since updates also cover price and stock changes.

Extra Product Options

On the Products tab, you'll also find:

  • Remove out of stock products from training — a toggle that automatically removes sold-out items, so your AI agent stops recommending something a shopper can't actually buy. Checked every time Shopify sends a product update, based on whether any variant still has stock.

  • Advance Training — an expandable panel with additional training controls (like re-index timing), shared with other link-based training sources.

Good to Know

  • Your product page needs to be public. YourGPT trains on your live storefront product page, so the page needs to be viewable by anyone — not password-protected.

  • Only basic customer info is captured — name, email, and phone. Order history, addresses, and other details aren't synced.

  • Keep your webhook URL private. Anyone with this URL could send data into your training set, so don't share it publicly.
